I acquired this item at a local yard sale in the central Valley of California. It is a wooden gavel, the wood it is made out of I am not sure of. On the small metal plate reads

It’s approximately 10 to 12 inches long. 4-5 inches wide

Could be great for a conversation piece or make yourself the judge, and rule over your subjects.
