Russian Music Box A9132 The Beautiful Snow Maiden Tales of a Russian Winter 1991

This 1991 produced Porcelain Music Box was Hand Painted by Kholui Art Studios in Russia. The painting on the lid is based on a Russian Folk Story of "The Beautiful Snow Maiden". According to the tale a childless old woodcutter and his wife make a girl out of snow and she comes to life. The tale ends when spring begins and the Snow Maiden melts and becomes a cloud of vapor. This oval music box was part of a limited edition, 'Tales of a Russian Winter' collection produced in 1991. This music box was the premier issue in this collection. The art work was designed by Kholui Master Artist Katyaka Homeq. It is hand painted in brilliant colors on black lacquer and has what appears to be some 24k gold highlights. The music box measures approximately 1 3/4" tall and is 2 1/2" x 3 1/4". The swiss movement is inside the lid. This item plays, 'Somewhere My Love' which is known to most as Lara's Theme.
