This is not just another fun history of squad tactics to either read or not read, as the military buyer sees fit. It is a detailed solution to a chronic problem within the U.S. Armed Forces that has so far cost this country thousands of lives and all the extended ground conflicts since World War II. Unlike the other major infantry organizations in the world, those in America have not been allowed to adopt the evolutionary changes to small-unit tactics. That's because projecting maximum money-making firepower requires four things for safety: 1) mostly linear formations; 2) few forward deployed small units; 3) every squad member doing precisely as told; and 4) no frontline initiative. For the sake of precision, this book will only cover squad structure and armament modifications up to the 1980s.
