Franklin Mint 1957 Silver Certificate Blue Seal $1 w/COA in Wallet
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing began producing currency on
high-speed rotary presses that printed notes via the dry intaglio
process. The first notes printed by this process were the 1957 Silver
Certificates Series and they were the last issued by the US government
to be backed by actual silver. Silver certificates, also known as Blue
Seals and Blue Seal Notes, are still legal tender but since 1968 are
redeemable only in Federal Reserve Notes and may no longer be exchanged
for silver.
