Return to Mars, a 1999 Hot Wheels Sealed NASA / JPL Space Set, All Failed Missions, RARE!

This is an extremely rare Hot Wheels set. This collectible is so hard to find because it was only produced in small numbers, unlike most other similar sets. This is because all of the Mars missions depicted here turned out to be total failures, each one being burned up and destroyed in the Mars atmosphere before they could perform their mission. 

This particular set is still sealed and in really great shape! From 1999, and contains 3 Mars missions from NASA and JPL inside: the Mars Climate Orbiter, the Deep Space 2 Microprobe, and the Mars Polar Lander. Each of these spacecraft is made of plastic, and each looks like the real thing with some great details. Given it's value, this is designed to be an adult collectible.

This pack was made in anticipation of more successful missions to Mars in the late 90's, but production of them was quickly stopped when each mission was a failure and only a relative few sets were ever made.

This rare example of this set is in new sealed condition, with the bubble part of the package in very good condition and attached to the card, the card they're on in good condition with some light bends and storage wear, with the spacecraft inside still in brand new condition of course.

I have a couple of these available at this time, both in similar condition. What a cool Space collectable!
