THIS LISTING IS FOR TWELVE (12) AFX Magnatraction, Super Magnatraction, and G-Plus Rear Axles. This axle is an exact copy of the original Aurora AFX and G-Plus  rear axle. The spline pattern and length exactly matches the original. This axle can also be used on X-Traction, Johnny Lightning, Auto World, Dash and can probably be used on TOMY Turbo, SRT and Super G+ as well.
This axle is a copy of the original Aurora AFX, G-Plus and Super MagnaTraction rear axle in spline pattern and length.  Whereas original Aurora axles are made from .0625" stock, these axles were made from .0600" stock.  Although only a difference of 2.5 thousandths of an inch, it could make a difference if trying to reuse an existing crown gear or wheels (see notes below).  These axles are made from 1018 steel and extra insistence was placed on making sure they are straight.  Please carefully read the notes below.
Please Note: The diameter of the splined areas on original Aurora axles can vary widely due to both manufacturing tolerances and when they were made.  The splines can be anywhere from .0625" to as much as .0680" or possibly more.  The splined areas on these new axles are in a more consistant range, varying in diameter from .0625" to about .0640" depending on how aggressive the splines were cut on a particular axle.  When replacing original (or aftermarket) axles, you may not be able to reuse the existing crown gear or wheels depending on their condition.  Any issues will be due to manufacturing tolerances and wear of the existing parts, including the size of the axle being replaced.  If the spline area on the axle being replaced is larger than about .0635", the hole on the existing parts may be too large to fully grip this new axle.  Using all new parts will ensure a good fit.
Please Note: The axle holes on the chassis are about .0630" in diameter which is necessarily slightly larger than the .0625" unsplined areas of an Aurora axle and the .0600" unsplined area of these new axles.  Since the splined areas of the axle must also pass through the axle hole, the hole must be large enough (or elastic enough) to allow the splines to pass.  The less size difference between the splined areas and the axle hole means less stress on the axle hole.  Because the splines were kept at .0640" and under they will pass more easily through the axle holes in the chassis without causing the hole to enlarge.
Please Note: The crown gear and wheels are designed to grab onto an axle which is .0625" or greater.  Since the splined areas of these new axles is at least .0625" there should be no issue with getting a good fit on new wheels and gears.
This axle was used on later AFX chassis, the G-Plus and the Super MagnaTraction.  I'm guessing Aurora switched the AFX to this axle once the stock ran out on the long T-Jet axles.  This axle and the long T-Jet axle are identical except for the splines on the ends.  The long T-Jet axle has splines for the wheels all the way to the end while this axle has a short smooth area at the tips.  The smooth area measures about .0600" in diameter which allows it to insert easily into the wheel before being pressed on.
Please Note: This type of axle was not used on Super MagnaTraction variations such as the Speed Shifter, Blazin' Brakes or Cat's Eye because the rear axle was splined in a different pattern due to the various mechanisms found on the rear axle of those chassis.  However, this axle can be used on those chassis by replacing the original axle and components with a standard crown gear which basically converts them into a Super MagnaTraction.
Please Note: The Super MagnaTraction and variations are designed to allow the rear axle to snap in rather than passing through the chassis.
This axle can be used on all T-Jet, AFX, G-Plus, Super MagnaTraction and X-Traction style chassis including Aurora, Johnny Lightning, Auto World and Dash.  It can also be used as the rear axle on Tomy Turbo, SRT and Super G+ chassis.
