Aesthetically beautiful item with image of American seal, US and Cuban flags, and nautical flags. Raised gold decoration, work on this plate is fine. Marked with Limoges France Old Abbey mark used by the Latrille Freres of Limoges from 1908 to 1913, so this plate may be dated within a five year period.About the USS California: ACR-6 Armored Cruiser launched in 1904. Operated in the Pacific mainly out of San Diego, California. In December of 1911 she sailed for Honolulu, Hawaii for the opening ceremonies of the completion of the Pearl Harbor entrance channel. On December 14, 1911, USS California became the first warship to pass through the new channel into Pearl Harbor. As she entered the harbor the California and her crew hosted Queen Liluokalani of Hawaii.
