King Gyanendra wearing plumbed crown and temple of Goddes Taleju on front. First line of text at upper left shorter than second line - signature: Bijay Nath Bhattarai (2005-2007 & 2009-2010). "R" in word "RUPAIYAN" on back spelled differently. Catalog value $3.00.
Taleju temple was built in the 16th century, on Durbar Square, Kathmandu. Dedicated to Taleju, aslo a form of goddess Darga, this temple is only open to the public one day a year. The Kings of Nepal cannot rule without the favor of this goddess. It was buiilt by the King Mahendra Malla. Musk ox and Mt. Everest on reverse.
