CIRCA 1901-1902, U.S. ARMY, HOSPITAL STEWARD, CHEVRONS, MATCHED SET

 

Green wool construction with white chain stitching and a green Maltese cross with a white wool background. In 1901, these chevrons replaced the chevrons that had a red Geneva Cross. At least one hospital steward was to be stationed at every post, and two if the garrison was of six companies or larger. These chevrons originate from an established collection of U.S. Army Chevrons. Unused, NOS. These chevrons were short lived and do not react to ultra violet light.
