Dogma is a 1999 American comedy film written and directed by Kevin Smith.

It stars Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Alan Rickman, Salma Hayek, George Carlin, Chris Rock, Linda Fiorentino, and Jason Lee.

The film follows two fallen angels, Loki and Bartleby, who are banished to Wisconsin for insubordination.

They discover a loophole that will allow them to return to Heaven by entering a church during a rededication ceremony.

However, their return would have disastrous consequences, as it would prove God fallible and destroy all of creation.

An abortion clinic worker named Bethany, who is revealed to be the last descendant of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, is tasked with stopping the angels.

She is aided by a group of prophets and a seraph named Metatron.

The film is known for its irreverent humor, religious satire, and exploration of faith and existence.

It also features a number of cameos by famous figures, including Alanis Morissette and Jason Mewes.
