This edition is for a very rare "Red" labeled version of the VHS tape early release from Paramount.  Both top & side labels are of red colored paper.  

This is a 1990 movie based on a 1984 novel by Tom Clancy. It stars Sean Connery as the Soviet captain of an experimental submarine. Launched during the Cold War, the captain and his officers decide to defect to America, but soon find themselves the target of, not only their own fleet, but also the American Navy, who have been told that they intend to launch their nuclear weapons on the United States. Only CIA consultant Jack Ryan, played by Alec Baldwin, believes in their true intentions, and fights to keep the military from killing them. This film has a stellar supporting cast, including Scott Glenn, James Earl Jones, Sam Neill, and Tim Curry. Probably the best adaptation from any of Clancy's novels, this was the one that introduced the character of Jack Ryan to American movie audiences. The character has since appeared in many action films, played by such notables as Harrison Ford (between his Star Wars films), Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine (known for also playing the latest version of Captain Kirk). This is a thriller that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat until the very end. Perhaps one of my very favorites in the drama/action genre.
