CONDITION: There is an inscription in black ink on the inside front cover. It is hard to read, but I believe it states, "This Book belonged to a NH Regiment in the War 1864-5." The hardcover has become completely detached from the binding at the spine, and is hanging on via the glue of the inside back over page. The book is misshapen and discolored. There are tears, rubs, holes and creases in the cover. There is foxing on the pages. Additionally, there is a more current inscription on the inside back cover, in blue ink. It states, "Marshall Gerth on his first furlough from Army duties Sept. 1943 from Virginia. Sept. 10th 1943."
