About the artist:

Brian Bolland (1951 - ) is best known for his fantastic work on Wonder Woman, Camelot 3000, Doom Patrol and his critically acclaimed Batman: The Killing Joke.  His clean illustrative style and highly detailed renderings have made the British artist a favorite among fans and collectors alike.

Primarily a cover artist, with the majority of his work appearing on comics published by DC, his other work includes The Invisibles, Animal Man, Tank Girl, Judge Dredd, The Flash, Superman, Robin, Zatanna, Catwoman, Huntress, and The Spectre, among many others.

Bolland received the Best Newcomer award form the Society of Strip Illustration in 1977. In 1982 he received an Inkpot Award and was also named Favorite Artist in the British section of the Eagle Awards. In 1992, he won the Eisner for Best Cover Artist and took the same award again in 1993, 1994, 1999, and 2001. In 2007, he won an Eisner for Best Comic-Related Book with The Art of Brian Bolland.

It is for his work on Batman: The Killing Joke (1989), however, for which Bolland received the most accolades, winning a total of five awards for that single issue, including the Eisner along with writer Alan Moore for Best Graphic Album, an Eisner for himself for best Artist/Penciller/Inker), and three Harvey Awards (Best Artist, Best Graphic Album, and Best Single Issue).  Of note, The Killing Joke is one of Bolland's rare forays into interior illustration, having both penciled and inked the entire issue, including the famous cover.
