Areas of application:
For the prevention and treatment of flea infestation (Ctenocephalides felis) with a duration of action of 7 to 8 months.
Effectiveness against fleas begins immediately after the collar is put on.
The veterinary medicinal product prevents the development of flea larvae in the immediate environment of the animal for 8 months. Seresto can be used as part of the treatment strategy for allergic skin inflammation caused by flea bites (flea allergy dermatitis, FAD).
The veterinary medicinal product has a persistent acaricidal (killing) effect against
tick infestations
caused by Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor reticulatus, as well as a repellent (anti-feeding = preventing the blood meal) effect against tick infestations caused by Ixodes ricinus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus with a duration of action of 8 months. The veterinary medicinal product is effective against larvae, nymphs and adult ticks. It is possible that ticks already present on the dog at the time of treatment will not be killed within the first 48 hours after the collar is put on and will remain attached and visible. Therefore, ticks already on the dog at the time of treatment should be removed. Protection against infestations with new ticks begins within two days of putting on the collar. For the treatment of lice infestation (Trichodectes canis). Ideally, the collar should be used before the start of flea or tick season.
Contraindications:
Do not use in puppies under 7 weeks of age. Do not use in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients.
Side effects:
Occasionally, slight itching and/or redness may occur in animals that are not used to wearing collars during the first few days after the collar is put on. Care must be taken to ensure that the collar is not too tight. The collar may cause slight hair loss and minor skin reactions at the application site, which usually subside within 1 to 2 weeks without the collar needing to be removed. In some cases, however, it is advisable to temporarily remove the collar until the symptoms have subsided.
