What are the B vitamins important for?
The vitamins of the B complex fulfil vital functions in the human body. They are involved in important metabolic reactions in the provision of energy in the body. Since the various metabolic pathways are closely linked, all B vitamins are required in sufficient quantities for optimal function. Due to their special importance for energy metabolism in nerve tissue, including the brain, the B vitamins are also known as so-called "neurotropic" vitamins (= vitamins that affect the nervous system). Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, biotin, niacin and pantothenic acid contribute to normal energy metabolism. Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, biotin and niacin contribute to normal functioning of the nervous system. Vitamins B2, B6, B12, folic acid and pantothenic acid can contribute to
Reduction of tiredness and exhaustion.
Vitamin B6, B12 and folic acid contribute to normal homocysteine metabolism.
How can you improve your supply of B vitamins?
Good sources of B vitamins, with the exception of folic acid, are meat, poultry and fish, as well as pulses.
Folic acid is found in abundance in vegetables and salads.
Milk and dairy products, whole grain cereal products and fruit are also good sources of various B vitamins.
Since the body cannot produce the B vitamins itself, they must be supplied in sufficient quantities through food. A regular intake of B complex vitamins is important because the majority of these water-soluble vitamins cannot be stored by the body for very long. Who should pay particular attention to their vitamin B intake? You should pay particular attention to an adequate intake of B vitamins if you have an unbalanced diet, a low-meat diet, are on a diet to lose weight, have a reduced appetite (e.g. in the elderly) or are recovering. Excessive alcohol consumption impairs the supply of B vitamins. B vitamins are particularly important during periods of high physical exertion or during intensive sporting activity.
How should you store Vitamin B-Complex-ratiopharm?
