3 colors of Purple Ghost Scorpion
Some of the purpling is on the inside of the pepper pods

### **1. Purple Ghost Scorpion**

- **Origin & Background:** The Purple Ghost Scorpion is a rare hybrid pepper, likely a cross between a Ghost Pepper (Bhut Jolokia) and a Trinidad Scorpion variety. This pepper is known for its striking appearance and extreme heat.
- **Appearance:** The pepper pods are deep purple to almost black in color, often transitioning to a red or dark purple hue when fully ripe. The pods are contorted and gnarly, with a scorpion-like tail that curls at the end.
- **Heat Level:** Extremely hot, reaching upwards of 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) or higher, comparable to the heat of other superhot peppers like the Ghost and Scorpion varieties.
- **Flavor Profile:** Fruity, slightly floral, with a hint of sweetness before the intense heat kicks in. This variety has a strong, lingering heat.
- **Uses:** Best used in hot sauces, spicy powders, or as a culinary novelty for extreme heat lovers.

### **2. Purple Ghost Scorpion Cream**

- **Origin & Background:** This is a variant of the Purple Ghost Scorpion pepper, bred to exhibit a lighter, cream-colored pod. It retains the same superhot properties and distinctive look but with unique coloration.
- **Appearance:** Pods start as a creamy white to light purple color and may develop purple streaks or patches depending on the growing conditions. They still maintain the characteristic wrinkled, bumpy texture and tail of the original variety.
- **Heat Level:** Like the standard Purple Ghost Scorpion, it has a heat level that can exceed 1,000,000 SHU, making it one of the hotter peppers.
- **Flavor Profile:** Fruity, with a slightly milder sweetness compared to the purple variant. The flavor is complex, and the heat develops gradually.
- **Uses:** Ideal for adding a visual appeal to spicy dishes and making cream-colored hot sauces or powders.

### **3. Purple Ghost Scorpion Orange**

- **Origin & Background:** This is another variant of the Purple Ghost Scorpion, selectively bred for its orange coloration. It has similar genetic origins and heat characteristics as the other Purple Ghost Scorpion varieties.
- **Appearance:** The pepper pods are vibrant orange when ripe, occasionally showing hints of purple or dark streaking depending on exposure to sunlight and other environmental factors. The pods are bumpy and feature the characteristic tail curl.
- **Heat Level:** Extremely hot, in the same range as its purple and cream counterparts, often reaching or exceeding 1,000,000 SHU.
- **Flavor Profile:** The orange variety tends to have a slightly more citrus-like, fruity flavor, which can provide a nice contrast to its intense heat.
- **Uses:** Great for orange-colored hot sauces, powders, or as a garnish that combines visual appeal with extreme spiciness.

These three Purple Ghost Scorpion variants are fascinating not just for their heat but for their unique colors and potential for creating visually striking dishes or hot sauces.
