Seven high mountains covered with evergreens, silver with snow in the winter these surrounded Georgetown and isolated it from the rest of Colorado.
There was silver in these mountains too, silver that could be mined to make Georgetown one of the richest cities in the West.
Matt Stacey and his top hand Brad Meredith came up to Georgetown with fifty mules to sell to the mine owners.
That night Stacey's wallet was full of hundred- dollar bills.
Next morning the wallet was empty, and what was left of Matt Stacey lay on the floor of a miner's deserted shack. . . .
