This vintage handheld fan is a rare and beautiful example of Asian artistry. It features a hand-painted scene on silk depicting a caravan of camels and travelers passing through a gate in a walled city. The delicate artwork is complemented by a finely carved bone handle with intricate openwork details. The fan is in excellent condition, with no visible damage to the silk leaf or the handle apart from some slight fraying on the left edge of the leaf (see photo). It measures approximately 8.5 inches tall and 5.25 inches wide, making it a perfect size for carrying or displaying. The cord and tassel appear to be replacements.
