This is the 7th piece of the Norse Goddess Hel Leather Fantasy Armor which is a Custom (one-of-a-kind) Breast Plate Corset that was specifically made for a fantasy Viking Mythology character for a renaissance faire. This is designed with the Norse Goddess "Hel" in mind. She is the goddess of the underworld in Norse mythology and is half dead and half alive, therefore each piece of this unique costume is different representing this feature. Would be a great item for a Halloween Costume or another fantasy faire and costume-con event.
This fantasy Corset Breast Plate is split in half in design to portray both sides of the Goddess Hel representing life and death. The death colors is a hammered textured black leather with a burgundy stained sculpted bloody bone ribcage and skeleton fingers on the cup streaked in bloody whitish bone highlights. The other side is stained brown with hand carved artwork details depicting a Dragon, Helmed Viking & Spear, Shield and Axe and a Stag Deer. On this side that represents life, there is a band with Rune inscription that says: DIVINITY
.
Description: It measures as follows: the middle center is 10" inches from top to bottom point. Right and left sides are 9-1/4" inches from top to bottom underneath the arms. The back measures 10-1/2" inches from top to bottom. It measures 37" inches wide and bust cup size is B/C. It has three straps and buckles for closure in the back which is adjustable up to 6-7" inches extra without a modesty panel. Fully closed would be about 36-37' inches around the ribcage underneath the breast area. It is lined in suede leather for comfort against the hard leather.
Issue: It was sent back to the vendor/creator to reposition the cups further apart and to lay more naturally. The only issue is that one of the rivets popped in the center where the cup meets the bodice and the other side also has one rivet in the same center area that was not reattached when it was sent back. A good leather-smith should be able to fix that easily. However, it does not detract from the use or function of this piece and is in very good condition over all showing only some slight fading in the gold gilding on the trim, but that only makes it look all the more ancient and battle weary. Has only been worn once.
Due to the fact that it took a year to come back and still was not correct. I decided not to send it back for further repair and selling it "As Is". A good leather person should be able to do these minor repairs, but I just don't have the time to wait another year or the money to find someone else to repair this.
I will be parting out other pieces of this custom costume. There are arm braces or vambraces, shin leg guards, a belt, a single skull pauldron and a breastplate. Some pieces have writing in Rune lettering engraved on them and others don't. One side is for the living and the other for the dead showing some skeleton bones which are also handcrafted and formed out of leather. This costume has only been worn once.
Some pieces had quality issues and may need some attention from a leather-smith. I have done what I can to make this right but unfortunately, that didn't happen as expected when dealing with a long distance vendor and communication can get rather complicated due to personal issues. So I leave that up to the buyer to decide on the other pieces and will describe the defects.
