FINE PRINT: As with all handcrafted vintage and antique stoneware/porcelain/bone china or glass items, there may be normal wear, age crazing or unique details that do not take away from the function, value or overall purpose and appearance of these beautiful pieces, but add to the history and character of the item. Pottery irregularities such as, dings, dents, bumps, scratches, bubbles, glaze pops, dips and glazing slips, color variations, ink/paint spots under the glaze, mold lines, etc., within or on each piece are sometimes created from the manufacturing process. These are things that happen when pottery is handcrafted, manufactured or fired.
If there are any major/minor damages it will be described in the "Condition" paragraph section above. I do not in any way clean, polish or change the content of this item so as not to affect its original prominence or value. I leave that decision up to the new owner. And… as with ANY vintage item they have been previously owned so there may be signs of normal wear. Look at pictures carefully to determine item condition for yourself before you purchase. Depending on your computer monitor's resolution and color settings, the picture may differ slightly in color from the actual item. ALL ITEMS SOLD “AS IS ~ AS FOUND”.

HISTORY
The Harker China Company was established in 1840 by a gentleman from England named Benjamin Harker. Benjamin Harker moved from England and settled in Ohio on the banks of the Ohio River.
Harker first produced yellow ware and Rockingham which was produced from local clay. In 1847 Benjamin Harker died and the company was run by his sons Benjamin Jr., and George under several different names. In 1857 Benjamin and George separated and Benjamin took a partner and operated his company under the name Harker and Smith. George operated the George S. Harker Pottery Company which became the Harker Pottery Company we know today. This company became famous for its many dinnerware and kitchen ware patterns and shapes. Some of their most famous patterns were Mallow and Cameo Ware. They also made many accessory items like rolling pins and children's banks. This incredible company stayed in business until 1972 until the Jeannette Glass Company bought the factory.
HARKER

The company made many types of pottery but by the Civil War was making quantities of yellow-ware from native clays. They also made Rockingham-type brown-glazed pottery and white-ware. The plant was moved to Chester, West Virginia, in 1931. Dinnerware were made and sold nationally. In 1971 the company was sold to Jeannette Glass Company and all operations ceased in 1972.
