This is a gorgeous portrait brooch that is hallmarked 800 silver. The filigree or  Cannetille work on these pieces look like delicate lace and are a true piece of art. Cannetille is a wirework decoration which uses coiled and twisted wire to achieve a delicate scrolling effect. It has a HIDDEN clasp underneath that can connect it to the wide fringe gilt necklace. The necklace measures 15" long on the inside. The brooch is 1 3/4" long and is a hand painted portrait in hair or woven silk ( see back) under glass.  Really exquisite!
