The Dragon and Phoenix are the ultimate yang and yin symbols of Chinese cosmology and mythology. The Dragon is the symbol of male vigor and fertility. The Phoenix symbolizes yin splendor and female beauty when placed with the dragon. Alone however the phoenix takes on yang characteristics and male essence thereby symbolizing other attributes. Together, the dragon and phoenix also symbolizes the emperor and empress.
