The story of the WISHBONE:
It has been a game in almost every family where the Wishbone from the dinner Turkey is held by 2 children. It is pulled in two and the child left holding the larger side of the wishbone is the LUCKY ONE!
This little game was based upon real superstitious folklore...... People have performed superstitious acts with wishbones for centuries. Long before the turkey tradition, the goose-bone was used in Medieval Europe. There were no turkeys in Europe then, and geese were often eaten on autumn feast days.
Some people thought geese had supernatural powers as oracle birds through which a deity might speak about the future.
The four leaf clover is a universally accepted symbol of good luck. The origin of the story is centuries old.
The significance of the four leaf clovers pre-dates Christianity, going back to the pagan period, when four leaf clovers were Celtic charms. The Druids (Celtic priests) elevated four leaf clovers to the status of Celtic charms, as they were used as potent protection against evil spirits and to bring GOOD LUCK!
