H.P Fridenberg and sons set up a novelty and curiosity shop in Florida and also in New Jersey. They would purchase large containers from Africa of odd and bizarre animal things like alligators, teeth, chameleons, and african leather goods.. The store burned down in the 1900's and he was awarded 15000 pounds of ash for his store. I am guessing they did not have insurance back then. Some pieces were salvaged and they went tosale ( see photo)...I have the cufflinks from this original store listed here

These were one the rarest pieces to survive.. They are teeth cufflinks capped in rolled rose gold. They have their original box and cotton inside as well as the cardboard they came on. Once the store burned down and all the pieces weresaleed off, he continued to keep the store in New Jersey. He then used the money he made from that to buy large hotels. Oddities and curiosities in the late 1800's were extremely popular in Florida. The fire wiped out all the stores and very few pieces remain.. These are Georgian and dated FEBRUARY 1822.
This Stickpin is probably from the same store. It is made of 9ct gold and sterling. The cap on the end is 9ct gold, the gold claw is gold over sterling and the pin itself is gold plated. This goes so well with the cufflinks that I have listed above that you will see they were made very similar in style in design.
This is a great gift idea that shows you took the time to care about that special person in your life. It is classic and vintage and we even gift wrap it for you . Whether it is a memory from their past or something that reminds you of how special they are, it is a unique idea because it is vintage and not something you can buy everyday.
And while you are shopping for someone else, take a peek at some pieces you like because we carry men’s and women’s jewelry and a lot of neat old collectibles. And we all know you can never have enough jewelry!
The pieces we carry are unique and interesting and may have a little wear ( if any) but they sure have a lot of love that came with them when they were first purchased way back when.
All jewelry is boxed for gift giving. Just say the word and we will wrap it and put a beautiful bow on it for you at no extra charge . All you have to do it watch them smile and enjoy their special gift.
