(2) Two Antique Photographs of Marilla Letitia Bogle Whitman. Identified on reverse side of both photos. One depicts her as a child of two years, 4 months and pushing a toy wheelbarrow. The second one shows her graduation photo from the Class of 1913, Brown University. The child photo measures 3.5 x 4.5 including white border. The graduation photo measures 2 x 4. Condition: These are original photographs, not copies or reproductions. They are in very good condition excpt child photo has some edge and corner creasing, and 1/2" edge tear. Comments: Marilla Letitia Bogle was born June 6, 1890 at Fall River, Massachusetts, the daughter of Robert Alexander Bogle and Marilla B. (Angell) Bogle, who were born at Tiverton, Rhode Island, and Providence, Rhode Island, respectively. The younger Marilla attended Brown University and graduated in 1913. Her name appears in a 1913 list of teachers newly appointed in Fall River, Massachusetts. In the February 1917 issue of the Brown Alumni Monthly, Marilla is listed as teaching English at West Warwick High School. Marilla Letitia Bogle married Prescott Adams Whitman on January 1, 1921. Prescott Adams Whitman was born March 8, 1896 at Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Benjamin Allen Swan Whitman and Arabel Elizabeth (Barber) Whitman. The couple made their home at Providence, Rhode Island, where Prescott was a farmer. They had a son and a daughter. Marilla died in 1969, and Prescott died in 1983.
