Paper size of this direct photo print is 3 1/4" x 4 1/2". This print is on Velox paper which was inconvenient in ways but returned a superior and more lasting direct contact print and that is why commercial art studios and professional photographers used it. This print was very likely made soon after it was taken and likely at Saipan itself or on a ship there. This came to me as part of a group identified as being Saipan and included was a shot of the base Chapel which confirms it. The exact date was not noted and as the island is listed in Guinness as being the most consistent climate we can't really tell what time of year this is.

This photograph shows some kind of MP or guard, he has a pistol shoulder sling holster, in front of a ruined interior which was once elegant. Several thousand civilians were on the island at the time of the invasion and few of their houses survived. This shot is an interesting study in contrast, well composed.

Very Good condition, the only defect being the light wrinkling which as you note doesn't affect the image any, press it out in a book, it hasn't creased any paper.. Velox paper prints are top grade and hard to find, that is one of the reasons I bought this and why you should be the next owner.
