Vintage Fisher Price Little People #923 School Playset COMP/NEAR MINT-MINT with Box! (MORE PHOTOS BELOW)

Here for your consideration is a 100% COMPLETE, #923 Fisher Price Little People #923 School in NEAR MINT-MINT condition. This offering is complete with both the letter and number magnetic trays, all the letters and numbers plus the 8 EXTRA letters featured in the original set, playground equipment, desks, RARE ORIGINAL FISHER PRICE CHALK, the ELUSIVE ERASER, and MINTY Little People.

I personally assembled this from several different sets using the best pieces I could find from each set. I configured this play set according to the Fisher Price specs for the 1976-77 version of the #923 School. The base is not the extended masonite base but the rest of the piece matches the description of the earliest sets (e.g. litho of children looking out through plastic panes etc.). As specified in www.thisoldtoy.com, it does NOT come with the inside Fisher Price litho on the underneath side of the roof. This interior litho was discontinued by the 1976-77 production run.

Believe it or not, I can only find one "flaw" on the EXTERIOR lithos of this SPECTACULAR base! With the exception of four, small bubbles on the main Fisher Price litho on the roof, the rest of the EXTERIOR lithos are MINTY MINT---no bubbles, creases, marks, stains, scratches, punctures, edge wear, rubs etc. They are FLAWLESS! They have retained their vivid original coloration and are firmly adhered to the surface of the piece. Even the grassy lithos, bell tower roof, and flower bed lithos are PERFECT! All of the lithos are firmly adhered to there underlying masonite or plastic surfaces.

The INTERIOR lithos are similarly endowed with their original bright colors and are smoothly adhered to the base (NEAR MINT-MINT). After repeated scrutiny, the ONLY thing I can find is one, 2" vertical line of light soiling on the yellow part under the roof above the Presidents' litho. All the other floor and wall lithos are PERFECT! These are ABSOLUTELY the best INTERIOR lithos I've ever seen on one of these Schools. They look brand new! I believe the soiling will come off with a careful cleaning. Irregardless, unless you're craning your neck inside the School itself, this soiling is hard to spot.

With the exception of a couple of light scratches or scuffs on the metalic roof, the plastic surfaces are "to die for" (NEAR MINT-MINT). The roof has retained its glossy, creamy lustre and does not exhibit any rust, cracks, chips, or "dings." The chalkboard seems to be in FANTASTIC shape (MINT).

All of the masonite corners of the base are free of any layering, smushing, cracking etc. The top and bottom of the masonite base is devoid of any water stains. The bottom of the base presents what looks to be some extraneous white chalk marks. I will gingerly try to remove these without leaving any water marks.

Short of finding one of these Schools in an unopened box, I fervently believe this is the best base you'll EVER see! It is INCREDIBLE and belies Fisher Price's reputation for making durable toys to last a lifetime.

Accompanying this OUTSTANDING base, are the following accessories:

1 VHTF yellow/lime green swing set (MINTY MINT);

1 HTF lime green/yellow merry-go-round (NEAR MINT--NOTE: The original specs for this set called for a yellow/lime green merry-go-round. Since I didn't have one of these, I substituted this one in its place; the center bolt on the turning piece is a little dull; I believe it will brighten up with a generous application of Naval Jelly; once it does, this piece will warrant a MINT rating);

4 HTF lime green student desks (NEAR MINT-MINT--minor amount of wear on the bottom of some of the chair legs);

1 VHTF yellow Teacher's chair (MINTY MINT);

1 RARE yellow Teacher's desk w/litho (MINTY MINT);

1 VHTF yellow slide (NEAR MINT-MINT--a few light surface scratches on the sliding board; otherwise, MINTY MINT);

1 VHTF magnetic letter tray (MINTY MINT);

1 RARE magnetic number tray (MINTY MINT);

1 RARE box of original Fisher Price chalk (MINT--3 pieces of chalk are unused and NOT broken; box is in VG++-EXC condition with some minor edge wear and one torn flap at one end of box; all flaps are present but one that is torn is hanging by a thread);

26 magnetic plastic letters (all labelled FP) (NEAR MINT- a couple show a few "nibbles"---e.g. C and G);

10 magnetic numbers (0-9; all labelled FP) (NEAR MINT- a few"nibbles" on numerals 4; you practically have to hold this up within 3" of your eyes and rotate it in the light to see these "nibbles;" they're very shallow in nature);

8 extra letters "E, I, L, N, P, R, S, T" as specified in the Fisher Price specs (EXC-EXC++-- a few "nibbles" on the letters "I, L, and S"; others exhibit light surface scratches; and

1 EXTREMELY RARE RED FISHER PRICE ERASER (MINT---NOTE: The Fisher Price specs for this 1976-77 version of the #923 School utilized a yellow eraser. Since I didn't have one of those and to keep the quality level of this playset in line, I subsituted an EXTREMELY RARE 1st edition Fisher Price Eraser. This eraser does NOT show any signs of dry rot. Moreover, this eraser was ONLY used in the first edition of the #923 School manufactured in 1971; this is the FIRST TIME I'VE EVEN SEEN ONE OF THESE RED ERASERS IN OVER 11 YEARS OF COLLECTING AND BUYING AND SELLING VINTAGE FISHER PRICE PLAYSETS!).

The play set also includes the following ALL PLASTIC Little People:

1 HTF, blue bodied girl with rust sculpted hair (NEAR MINT--couple of barely perceptible indentations on back side of her hair; these were probably caused by a child's errant tooth; they are very shallow in nature; I only spotted them when I held the piece up to within 3" of my eyes and rotated her in the light);

1 VHTF, green bodied girl with freckles and a blonde hair in braids (NEAR MINT--minor amount of edge wear around middle of piece consistent with age: NOTE: the original Fisher Price specs call for all of these LP for the 1976-77 version to be ALL PLASTIC; since I didn't have an ALL PLASTIC green bodied girl with freckles and blonde braids, I subsituted a WOOD/plastic one in her place);

1 VHTF, red bodied African-American boy with black, heat stamped hair (MINTY MINT);

1 HTF, green bodied boy with red, heat stamped hair (MINTY MINT); and

1 blue bodied Teacher with blonde pony (MINTY MINT).

This is an HEIRLOOM QUALITY set and one that any avid Fisher Price collector would be proud to own. It would also make a great gift for some lucky child.

Adding to its rarity, this offering comes with its original box! While the box demonstrates some wear (e.g. edgewear on the folds, creasing, smushing and tears in the lithos at the corners, litho loss from the original sealing tape being removed, a puncture on the back of the box, a slit on the top of the box etc.), it still provides a wonderful accounting of the contents of the set and displays well. I would give this box a 7.5/10.0 rating with 10.0 being PERFECT.

I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning this base and all of its accessories before sending it to its new owners. I spend a MINIMUM of 1 1/2 hours cleaning each and every VINTAGE Fisher Price Little People play set that I sell (except those clearly identified as coming from MY ROUGH ROOM). I use a myriad of cleaning products ----Goo Gone, Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser, Soft Scrub, Armor All Wipes, Comet, Chlorox Bleach pen, Dawn, Naval Jelly etc. to clean these sets. My sets are IMMACULATE! They're immediately ready to go on display or to give to some lucky child for play.

Remember, these VINTAGE Fisher Price toys are NOT designed for children under 3 years of age or those who are still mouthing their toys. Adult supervision is STRONGLY recommended.

Also, these VINTAGE Fisher Price toys are NOT part of the recent recall of toys manufactured in China. This play set was produced in the good ol' USA 36 years ago. They sure don't make durable toys like this any more!

FYI, another benefit of using either Fed Ex or UPS is that their quote includes up to $100 worth of FREE insurance. Additional amounts of insurance may be purchased for a nominal fee (that is much less than the USPS). Fed Ex also provides automated tracking updates re: your parcel’s whereabouts directly to your personal e-mail account.
 

In order to ship Fed Ex (or UPS for that matter), I MUST have a residential or work place address, NOT a P.O. Box number, as well as a home or cell phone. Otherwise, they will not accept the shipping paperwork or transport your item.
