The plaque can either hang on the wall, or it can sit freestanding on a shelf (see the photos - the plaque is a half inch thick at the base, so it can stand on its own without fear of it falling over).

The image of the dog is 3-dimensional, so he appears to come out of the plaque by almost an inch.
