I saw this documentary the first time on VH1 back in 1998 after the Reunion Tour was finished. It was produced by Tommy Thayer back in the days before he ever dreamed of being in KISS. It's pretty cool. Flies through the beginings of the original lineup in the 70s, where they came from, the rise and fall, and what lead to the breakup. They quickly show that they played on through the 80s without makeup and sold lots of records, reinvented themselves several times and even went through a few lineup changes. Then it shows the KISS Conventions in good detail. How it lead to Peter Criss and Ace Frehley meeting up with the band, goes into MTV Unplugged in good detail and how they officially came back together. Much detail on how they practiced again and learned the music again and prepared for the tour. Some of the tour is breezed through really quickly but a few key shows are highlighted.
Overall, it's very awesome to see behind the scenes this great. It's great to see a documentary with Peter and Ace actually involved with the band. It's the glory days of the bad for sure. If you're a real KISS fan, you'll love this DVD. It's a VERY long documentary and certainly not some cheap way to get quick cash sales. This was a very well made highlight of one of the most important events in the band's history and one key moment in rock music.
