The Beach Girls and the Monster
(1965 - B&W - 70 min)

Released April 1965, Public Domain April 1993

Director: Jon Hall
Starring: John Hall, Sue Casey, Walker Edmiston, Elaine DuPont, Arnold Lessing, Read Morgan

Synopsis: Film is listed in The Official Razzie Movie Guide as one of The 100 Most Enjoyably Bad Movies Ever Made. Surfers are being brutally murdered. Is the culprit a sea monster or just one of the teens' jealous parents? A young girl is killed at the beach in Malibu.  Professor Otto Lindsay (Jon Hall) suspects that it is some form of mutated fish.  However, his son Richard (Arnold Lessing), who was a good friend of the girl, thinks that it is a madman who has a grudge against Richard and his friends.  Soon the list of victims grows to include one of Rich's surfing buddies, Rich's bitchy stepmother Vicky (Sue Casey) and his friend Mark (Walker Edmiston) who was crippled in an auto accident. Definitely one of those it's so bad it's good low budget monster films. You've got a cheesy monster in a rubber suit, cute Watusi girls, Frank Sinatra, Jr. music, mod 1960's fashions and great surfing footage. What more could you want?

Trivia: The surfing footage was shot by Dale Davis, one of the most prolific surf filmmakers of the 1960's.
