I have been looking this photo over close to see if I can spot anything on a uniform or of a uniform type by which I can narrowly define the time range but I just don't see anything. That said I have a very strong feeling this must be second World War. There is a list of the names with ratings on the back, albeit only last names but some archival work would pin this down very accurately and if one of these sailors is you or a friend or relative then they can tell you.
Photo itself in Good condition. Photo paper is aging but it isn't showing on the image itself just the back; there is light physical distress to the photo in the form of little pock marks or such and not sure how they would have got there. The frame itself is of some vintage however they have made this exact style more than a hundred years, possibly the photo was in an album originally then placed in the frame later.
The Gary began service in 1943 and lasted for thirty years. The vessel saw service in both oceans in WWII and the history can be found online. An important Edsall class destroyer.
