Give It to the People by Kelly Takunda Orphan

Kelly Takunda Orphan, a San Francisco Bay Area vocalist, percussionist, songwriter and music educator, has performed music on three continents and in both hemispheres. She draws that musical experience into her songwriting.
In 1994, after recording and touring with the famed Nigerian drummer, Babatunde Olatunji, Kelly studied Ethnomusicology at the University of Zimbabwe with Dr. Dumisani Maraire, and performed for such luminaries as President Nelson Mandela with The University of Zimbabwe Choir and Mhembero Dance Company.
Kelly then moved on to record, perform and tour with a variety of world music artists such as Keith Terry and Crosspulse, Amandala Poets, Linda Tillery and her her own group, The KTO Project. The KTO Project takes the listener around the world, connecting us with the love and dreams that unite us, and with the violence, grief and poverty that tear us apart, and with the music that can heal us if we open to its blessed rhythms
