Spalding China Company of Sebring, Ohio, began in the 1930's making clock cases. In 1942 production of pottery artware began and continued through 1957. It is thought that pieces marked Royal Copley were marketed through one group of department stores and those marked Royal Windsor were marketed through another group of department stores. All were produced by the Spalding China Company.
This piggy bank is a Royal Copley "Pig With a Wig". Many of these banks were unmarked. Due to its age there are some very minor chips and crazing but it is in rather good condition. It is a sturdy bank and the colors of blue, yellow, brown and pink are vibrant. There is no hole on the bottom of the bank to exit the money so it would be a shame to break the bank or chip the money slot on top to gain access to the money. Thus, this is one for the collector. The measurements are: 6 inches tall, 3 3/4 inches deep, and approximately 4 inches wide.
