The Snow Queen matryoshka nesting doll is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's tale about a boy named Kay that was enchanted by the Snow Queen and his friend named Gerda who rescued him from the ice palace. She had many adventures along the way. The exquisitely hand painted images are in a fine watercolor style and have beautiful gold foil work. A wonderful addition to any nesting doll collection.
The doll is entirely hand painted at the Golden Cockerel workshop in St. Petersburg, Russia. The artists painstakingly hand paint every detail, beginning with backgrounds and moving to the finer elements that require a brush of very select Siberian squirrel hair. Then the dolls have multiple layers of non-toxic water-based lacquer applied. The bottom of the largest doll gets stamped with Golden Cockerel’s “Made in Russia” mark of quality, initialed by the artist, and dated like a true collectible. It is a Golden Cockerel exclusive.
