Description
This is a nice medium size hand painted oval porcelain pin with purple flowers that appear to be violets or pansies and a gold border.
I've always been attracted to hand painted pieces from the early 20th century. These are usually oval and come in a variety of sizes. The painting was sometimes done in a factory setting and sometimes done as a handicraft at home. The subject was almost always flowers but occasionally portraits.
The backs are usually brass or base metal with prongs to hold the porcelain piece in place. Many porcelain pins (including this one) can be removed from the back plate and rotated 180 degrees for a different look.
The quality of the painting on porcelain pins varies greatly - many are well-done, a few are exceptionally nicely done, and some of quite amateurish.
The painting on this pin is quite nice.

In general, packages up to 16 ounces are sent via USPS first class mail. Heavier packages are sometimes sent via FEDEX SmartPost (depending on weight and destination).
