The concert was broadcast as a pay-per-view special. Of the 27 songs played, 17 were released on this home video. Voodoo Lounge was also the band's the 20th British and
22nd American studio album,
released on 11 July 1994. As their first new release under their new
alliance with Virgin Records, it ended a five-year gap since their previous studio album, Steel Wheels in 1989.
