Vintage 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy copy photograph (not a vintage original photo printed at the time it was taken) from the classic 1920's silent film crime drama thriller, THE UNKNOWN, released in 1927 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and directed by Tod Browning. A criminal on the run (Lon Chaney) hides in a circus and seeks to possess the beautiful daughter (Joan Crawford) of the ringmaster (Nick De Ruiz) at any cost.
The image features a close publicity portrait shot of the "armless" circus knife-thrower, Alonzo (Lon Chaney), with an "all knowing" look on his face. Printed most likely in the 1950's or 1960's, it is in very fine- condition and a prior owner had typewritten two lines of credits on the top of the verso that you can lightly see on the front when holding the photo at an angle. There is a small horizontal crease in the upper left background area only and no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws.
