Vintage original Release Dialogue Script from the 1960's comedy, OH DAD, POOR DAD, MAMA'S HUNG YOU IN THE CLOSET AND I'M FEELIN' SO SAD, released in 1967 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Richard Quine. A mother (Rosalind Russell) drops her son (Robert Morse) and husband (Jonathan Winters) off at a tropical vacation spot for a little rest and relaxation. The only problem is that the husband has been dead for quite some time, and his wife had him stuffed and carries him around with her. Complications ensue. The cast includes Barbara Harris, Hugh Griffith, Lionel Jeffries, Cyril Delevanti, Hiram Sherman, George Kirby, and Janis Hansen.
This "Release Dialogue Script" is not a screenplay but a post-production script, which provides a log of every visual action and every audible sound for each of the frames and footage on each reel of film. It is dated November 15, 1966 and consists, we believe, of over 90 pages plus one blank page at the end, all of which is bound together by two staples along the left side. A portion of the film's title and the production number were handwritten along the spine. To the best of our knowledge, this Release Dialogue Script is complete and in fine+ condition with a light 3.25 in. diagonal crease on the bottom right corner of the first several pages; light signs of wear on the corners of the first several pages; and a light stain near the bottom right corner of the cover page. There are no tears to any of the pages, nor is there any handwritten notations within.
Natalie Wood was originally announced for the lead. This film was completed in 1965 but Paramount didn't release it until 1967. In the interim, the understandably nervous studio hired Jonathan Winters to appear in comic inserts shot long after the regular cast had dispersed and principal photography was over. |
