Pre-viewed for quality and everything looks like new.
Out of print (OOP) in all formats and only available as a made-on-demand (MOD) dvd-r. These are not afforded a re-mastering and pressing like a formal dvd release. They have no frills, will not play in recordable devices, use the same source print as their vhs counterparts, have randomly rather than carefully placed chapter stops and are pricey.
This vhs tape is perfect for older model TV sets as it will fill your square aspect ratio screen.
The story of would be heavyweight boxing champs Joe "the Brown Bomber" Louis and Germany's Max Schmeling. In 1936, Max defeats Joe in a title match, although the two become friends, Joe has to put up with his country's racism (the whites in the audience cheer for Schmeling) while Max has to endure the Nazi's using him as a symbol of Aryan superiority.
In 1938, the tables are turned in a rematch at Yankee Stadium--this time it's Louis that's the peoples choice and the victor.
Not only does the film relate the duo's celebrity (and symbolism) but their alternate fortunes after WWII. Both leads do fine work, although Til Schweiger seems more comfortable in his role.
