Box has been cut and mounted in a white, hard plastic clamshell keepcase. Pre-viewed for quality and plays fine, cassette is nice and clean.

Worthy of note is the fact that this is a Japanese anime guided by American producers. Third and final animated episode of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. This is a complicated sword-and-sorcery tale that doesn't always translate well to film.

How the small but mighty Hobbit creatures are involved in the affairs of several races of good and evil beings in a never-never land of magic is at the core of this fable. The Magic Ring of 'The Hobbit' has now become the Ring of Doom--and to restore peace it must be destroyed in the raging fires in which it was made.

Chosen for the task, Frodo (relative to Hobbit Bilbo Baggins) and faithful servant Samwise face grave perils, from Orcs, Gollum and other ooky creatures the worst of which is the ring's terrible power to possess its wearer. Most of the story is told by John Huston as Gandolf the Wizard, with the voice talents of Orson Bean, Roddy McDowall & William Conrad.

This is a pretty cool take on the story and is worth a look as a comparison to Peter Jackson's live action film and this completes the trilogy started by Ralph Bakshi.
