Brand new factory sealed Spider-man trilogy starring Toby McGuire and directed by Sam Raimi. This set consists of the original 2-disc special edition, the sequel is the extended 2.1 cut of the film (2-disc), and part 3 is a single disc. The first two in this set are loaded with special features contained on the second disc.
Part 3 has a tiny endentation in the middle of the back that has cracked the paper ad-art underneath. This hiccup can easily be repaired by pulling it out of the sleeve and applying a small piece of tape to the backside. The set is priced accordingly and there are no slipcases (dust covers).
Sam Raimi does a little 21st-century updating of the Marvel comic hero, who first made his appearence in 1962, but remembers to keep the heart with the action.
SPIDER-MAN: Peter Parker (Toby Maguire) is a nerdy teenager who gets tongue-tied everytime he's around the babe of his dreams--Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). His life changes--not necessarily for the better--when he gets bitten by a genetically altered spider and takes on weird arachnid traits, such as strength, agility, wall crawling, web shooting, and swinging.
After a family tragedy, the newly monickerd Spider-Man becomes a crime fighter. His nemesis, is of course, the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), who himself has a duel identity.
SPIDER-MAN 2.1 is the extended cut. Raimi's first installment was the best comic book adaptation in a while, and he's managed to top it here. With more to worry about than ever, Mary Jane's engaged, Harry Osborne (James Franco) is out to avenge the death of his father (Green Goblin), and there's a new villain in town: Dr. Octopus.
Peter Parker's angst over Spidey's affect on his life, romantic conflict over MJ, and guilt over his uncle's death provide more depth than any comic book character has been previously granted on screen. Even Doc Ock is three dimensional and somewhat sympathetic, in no small part because of Alfred Molina's portrayal. The effects are again top-notch and non-intrusive.
SPIDER-MAN 3: Spider-Man is enjoying a brief period of popularity, which only makes things worse with his fading star girlfriend MJ and his vengeance-minded pal, Harry. Adding to the mix is a nasty rival photographer (Topher Grace), the powerful ex-con Sandman, and Venom, an evil alien parasite that gives Spidey a black suit and makes him act like a jerk. Spider-Man is in for the fight of his life against 3 villains as the New Goblin shows up - as well as the enemy within himself.
