Oil Painting Original Provence France Camargue House 12x16 Signed David Camardo

Oil on canvas. 12" x 16". Signed by the artist, David Camardo. Sorry, the frame is not included.

Since the 16th century, the wild white horses of the Camargue region in Provence, France, have been looked after by "gardians," who Americans might call cowboys. This painting shows a traditional gardian's house, emblematic of a dwindling lifestyle in rural France.

David Camardo (1939-2023) lived and painted in the rural Gold Country of Amador County, California and in Le Brusc, France. He began studying art in 1962 and lived for more than 40 years in Woodside, California. Through the years he received prizes and commissions for painting, sculpture, and drawings, which have been exhibited in numerous shows in northern California, both group and solo. His work is in the permanent collection of the San Jose Museum of Art as well as private collections both in the US and France.
