Via Crucis Frome, Somerset UK. Via Crucis, meaning ' The Way of the Cross', is at St. John's Church, Frome.
Originally there were some properties that stood on this corner of the churchyard, and at the time Rev Bennett became incumbent, St.John's was in a terrible state of disrepair.
He took it upon himself to improve the interior and extrerior of the church. In 1858 from money raised, the church bought the various properties [ indeed 164 people raised £150 to buy a shop that was there, and then presented the deeds to Rev Bennett ] , demolishing them to allow the Via Crucis to be built.
In 1860 work on creating over 40 statues within and without the church commenced, and this entrance of steps with the Via Crucis story is a rare example of such a glorification in an English country chuirchyard.
Various stages of the cross are depicted, and my pencil drawing is carefully posted to you Special Delivery Tracked, unframed, in a boarded envelope, wrapped in plastic for extra protection.
