Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the classic silent film horror drama/romance, THE UNKNOWN, released in 1927 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and directed by Tod Browning. A criminal on the run (Lon Chaney) hides in a circus and seeks to possess the beautiful daughter (Joan Crawford) of the ringmaster at any cost.

The image features an atmospheric exterior shot of a group of Gypsies seated around a campfire on the grounds of a circus as a gendarme watches and various wagons behind them. It is in fine- condition with a 0.75 in. tear on the left border; several small creases on the bottom left corner; random vertical scratches on the area to the left of the woman seated at the center to the bent knee of the man at the right (which are mostly unobtrusive and noticed when viewing the photo at an angle); and a couple of very small creases in the image area that are also unobtrusive. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, writing, or other flaws and the image quality is very sharp with fine detail and great contrast.
