(2) Two Antique Real Photo Postcards, circa pre-1920. Depicting a campus scene, and the main entrance of the "recitation building", at the Gorham Normal School in Maine. Both photographs by Walter E. Cobb Divided back, CYKO stampbox, unused. Condition: These are original photo postcards, not a copy or reproduction. Both have album corner straps adhered to the corners. Comments: Established in 1878, the Gorham Normal School was the precursor to today's University of Southern Maine school. The Normal School movement quickly gained popularity across the United States in the late 1800s as a venue for women to attend college. The schools trained teachers to use standards, or norms, hence its name.
