Antique Armand Marseille Bisque Doll Marked 370, 19 Inches, Original Clothing, Circa 1880s
This 19-inch bisque shoulder head doll by Armand Marseille (marked ?AM 4/0 X DEP 370?) dates to the late 19th century. She features a bisque head with open mouth and blue set glass eyes, mounted on her original kid leather body with muslin legs. Her long red mohair wig retains fullness and frames a beautifully painted face with softly blushed cheeks and parted lips.
She wears her original checked cotton gown, cream blouse with pearl buttons, lace petticoat, and black mesh stockings. A straw bonnet with maroon ribbon and feather accent completes her Victorian look.
Condition: Very good antique condition. No cracks or repairs to bisque head. Two fingers on the right hand show small chips. Fabric and ribbon show expected toning from age. Wig and clothing are original. Doll is losing sawdust filler, as far as I can tell, mainly from one leg, but I did not remove clothing to minimize any damage.
