Offered for sale ia a French match-stick holder of exeptional desigh an beauty.this is a very classy antique. ....Signed by the artist,it displays Cherubs and serpents engaging in an unusual manner.......very finely turned in a modern machine shop of that day,,,,,,this isn't a simple turn out piece and would have been reserved for the Upper class.....an english chemist stumbled upon the idea ofwood dipped sulfer in 1826.i have strong confidence this piece was made prior to 1850.thanks an enjoy a very scarce item.
