This novel of Imperial China in the eighteenth century, centers around a palace in Peking that has numerous courtyards, rooms and secret passages, and has a tough Emperor, and Prince Lien who loves Red Jade, and outside the walls, enemies, including the mysterious White Lotus Society. Unusual in such well-preserved condition. Inner hinge areas lightly age-toned as usual, corner tips minutely bumped, upper and lower spine edges slightly rubbed, else very good plus square, and tight in polished black linen with gilt embossed palace outline and blue titles to the spine, green and white illustrated map end-papers; in a very good dust jacket with art by Roberta Moynihan, with a tiny sliver missing from the spine panel, nicks to the corner tips, and small chips to the upper and lower spine ends; original printed $3.95 price still intact to the front inner flap.
