Item description
This is a vintage P.J. Ritter catsup bottle dating between 1911 and 1929. It is embossed on the bottom, " P.J. Ritter Company - Phila" along with Owens O in square glass mark. The mark dates the bottle to the 1910s-1920s time frame. The P.J. Ritter Company was founded in Bridgeton, NJ in 1854. Phillip J. Ritter opened the plant in Philadelphia in 1874 producing fruits, jams, catsup, etc. My father, an avid bottle digger, found the antique catsup bottle in the ruins of an old homestead in Virginia more than 40 years ago. It is in great shape, free from breaks or cracks. Clarity is nice with the exception of some sediment deposit on the bottom. (I suspect this can be cleaned with the right cleanser.) The vintage condiment bottle measures about 8" tall and 2" wide.
