Item description

Wide with handle 9" diameter 7" height 2.5" depth Handmade 100% in Colombia Clay bowl for cooking, serving, decoration, gifts, and sale Our clay bowls are made without any type of paint or lacquer, so they can change color with use, especially when they are used on an open fire. This does not affect their characteristics. These clay bowls are made preserving our ancestral culture. Widely used throughout South America Our clay bowls are well-known throughout South America and are used in many top restaurants for preparing, cooking, and serving traditional dishes. The origin of this clay cookware can be traced back over 700 years to vases and pitchers found in archeological sites. Traditional manufacturing process Our clay bowls are made in the traditional way, in a small village in the Andes. The intensive manufacturing process is handed down from mother to daughter. First, the local black clay is mixed with sand and water. Then, each piece is molded, trimmed, and smoothed by hand. The vessels are coated in a fine terracotta glaze and then left to dry in the sun. After drying, the surface is rubbed and polished by hand with semi-precious stones. This intensive polishing gives its natural patina and sheen. Cookware is fired in kilns Our clay bowls are made preserving our ancestral culture We are proud to continue the tradition of making Colombia clay bowls in the traditional way. Our clay bowls are made with care and attention to detail, and we believe they are a beautiful and functional way to prepare and serve food.
